Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I wax?

Waxed hair grows back smooth and fine, unlike the stubble that shaving causes. Each time you wax, the hair follicle weakens and can eventually die, leaving you with less hair. Waxing also lasts significantly longer than other epilation methods.

How long does the hair have to be to get waxed?

We require that you have at least a 3 week hair growth. Especially for your first wax, the longer your hair is, the better your wax will be. It is VERY important to have enough hair growth when you come for your appointment. This allows the wax to grab the hairs easily. If your hair is too short, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.

How often should I get waxed?

The baseline recommendation is every 4 weeks. That goes for everything: brows to legs to Brazilian. Some clients experience a slower or faster rate of hair growth, and that time can be changed accordingly. Your waxing professional will help you gauge when you should return.

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker?

Absolutely not. If that were the case, then your favorite bald man would be able to wax his head and grow hair? Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become sparse and not as coarse.

Anything else I should know about waxing?

You should refrain from using waxing as a hair-removal method if you are using Retin-A (currently or in the last 3 months), Acutance (currently or in the past 4 months), other keratolytic medications (that increase skin exfoliation), or are sunburned or recovering from a recent laser peel. Please inform your waxing professional about any and all medication that could affect skin sensitivity.

What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions are not the same as strip lashes. They are semi-permanent, synthetic lashes that are glued individually to your natural lashes. The type of lash extensions applied will determine the overall look of the lashes. We offer classic – one extension to one natural lash, volume- 2-6 fine extensions made into a fan shape to add fullness, and hybrid – a combination of classic and volume lash extensions.

What is the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?

Although both the treatments are used to make the lashes longer, and fuller looking however, they work differently. Eyelash extensions involve the bonding of individual synthetic lashes to your natural lashes with the help of a medical grade adhesive by an experienced artist to make them look physically fuller and longer. On the other hand, a lash lift involves the natural curling and perming of your lashes to make them appear longer and fuller. So, the lash lifts give an enhanced look to your natural lashes while the eyelash extensions can be used for a rather dramatic effect. Ultimately, it all comes down to your preference.

How do I know if eyelash extensions right for me?

For anyone with natural eyelashes, false lashes are a great way to enhance your natural look. It is a small change with a large impact, allowing you to have a seemingly-natural and sexy look all day from the moment you wake up. No matter if you prefer full glam or minimal makeup, are a bride-to-be or just want them for day-to-day, lash extensions make your eyes pop for a look that is unforgettable.

What happens during a lash extension Application?

Your appointment will usually begin with a 10 to 15 minute consultation for your lash artist to get to know you and the kind of look and texture you desire. You will then be reclined with your eyes closed while the lash stylist applies the lashes individually onto your own natural lashes with a safe and high quality adhesive. We recommend bringing in some of your favorite music and some earphones to help you relax and enjoy the relaxation time.

How long does it take to apply the lashes?

Depending on the desired look, the entire lash application process can take anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours for a full set.

Can I get whatever lashes I want?

Yes, within reason. Your lash artist will access your natural lashes and will work in the boundaries of safe lash application to give you your desired look. The health of your natural lashes comes first, so we will not place a lash extension that is too long or heavy for your natural lash to support. Your lash artist will discuss in more detail your desired look and how best to achieve it at the time of your appointment.

Will getting eye lash extensions have any affect on my natural lash growth?

No – extensions have no affect on the natural growing pattern of your lashes. As your natural lashes regularly shed and grow, the average person loses 2 to 3 lashes per day. This pattern continues without any interruption from your extensions. The false lashes will simply shed along with your natural lashes.

Do eyelash extensions hurt?

You will not feel any pain during the entire application process. In fact, you should be able to fall asleep as your eye lash stylist works. If you do feel any pain, it means that there is something wrong in the application and you should notify your lash artist so they can properly access what needs to be done.

Do I need to wear mascara with my eyelashes?

One of the biggest advantages of eyelash extensions is the eliminated need for mascara. Each individual eye lash extension is thick and dark, which makes it appear as though you have mascara on. It is actually recommended to avoid mascara entirely as many varieties contain oil that can break down the adhesive and cause the lashes to fall out.

Can I wear any eye makeup with lash extensions?

Yes, you can wear eye makeup with extensions. However, steer clear from any products with oil as they can be harmful to the glue that keeps the artificial lashes attached to your natural ones. When removing your makeup, use an oil-free makeup remover and try to avoid your lash line completely.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning immediately rejuvenates the skin by removing the top-most layer of skin along with the vellus hair. It is highly effective in minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, while leaving the skin feeling smooth, supple, and glowing. Dermaplaning is non-invasive exfoliation with no down-time.
